The current Worshipful Master of Wepre Lodge, decided to hold a summer B.B.Q. on Saturday, 12th August, to raise funds for the local Deeside Community Hospital. W.Bro. David Anthony Fink decided on the Hospital as his charity for the coming year in response to the excellent care given to several Brethren over the last few years.

W.Bro's Meirion Michael Thomas and Edwin Morris of Wepre Lodge and several Brethren of other local Lodges were all extremely well looked after during their stay in, what can only be described as, an excellent and caring facility.

Although attendance on the day was far less than expected, it was none the less very rewarding and the sum of 350 was raised. A further 100 was donated by a Past Master of Wepre Lodge who happened to be a patient in the hospital at the time. Several members of other Lodges including Memory Lodge, Kelsterton Lodge, St. Mark's Lodge, Hawarden Lodge and Flint Lodge also lent their support.

Grateful thanks to the following who helped make the day a success: Kevin Fink and Sue Simpson for running the B.B.Q., Pat Cooke for pre-cooking the chicken legs, helping prepare the salad and donating a cake for the raffle, Chris Shaw for collecting the entrance fees and running the raffle, Clive Shields for a bottle of wine, Tony and Molly Ashton for supplying the Tomatoes for the salad and a bottle of whisky. Sainsbury's Flint donated a voucher for 15 to help with the purchase of the salad items. Anyone that I have failed to mention have my humble apology, it is not intentional but sign of deteriorating brain cells!
